Spear and Jackson Select Carbon Edging Iron

About this product

The Spear and Jackson Select Carbon Edging Iron is a practical lawn edging tool designed for creating clean, defined borders around lawns and garden beds. Part of the Select range, this edging iron combines modern manufacturing techniques with budget-friendly pricing, making it an accessible choice for gardeners and groundskeepers seeking reliable performance without premium cost. The tool features a heat-treated carbon steel head measuring 215mm (8½"), providing the durability and edge retention needed for cutting through turf and root systems. An epoxy coating protects the head against rust, scratches, humidity and alkalis commonly found in soil, extending the tool's working life in demanding outdoor conditions. The treaded design allows for comfortable foot pressure application during use, reducing fatigue when working on longer sections of edging. Built around a tubular steel shaft with a polypropylene T handle, the 36" overall length provides good leverage and comfortable working posture for most users. The T handle configuration offers a secure grip and better control when applying downward pressure, making it suitable for both defining new edges and maintaining existing lawn borders.
